Up All Night by Joni Marie Iraci

The broken shade permitted the light of the full moon and a street light suffering from chronic blink to dilute into one and bleed in through the bedroom window. A faucet dripped, clocks ticked, sirens sounded waking the Mourning Dove who cawed over and over announcing dawn.


Joni Marie Iraci is a retired Registered Nurse who, after raising three children, returned to college to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. She earned a BFA in liberal studies with a concentration in literature and creative writing from Sarah Lawrence and an MFA in creative writing from Columbia University before publishing her first novel, “Reinventing Jenna Rose,” in 2019/Fat Dog Books Inc. It won 4 Firebird Book Awards in 2022.Her novel, “Vatican Daughter,” is complete at 78,896 words, its stand-alone sequel, “The Women of the 13th Rione” is complete at 87,282 words, a third is in progress. She lives in Naples, Florida and New York City with her husband, her dog and diva cat.
